ARCHAEOPTERYX
(ahr-kee-OP-ter-ix)
A crow size, feathered dinosaur. Its name means “Ancient Wing,” because until recently it was the oldest bird known. Each wing had an extension of three clawed fingers. They had long and bony tails. Of the late Jurassic Era.

PTEROSAUR
(tayr-o-SAWR)
Known as winged lizards. Most of these large brained, flying reptiles were fish eaters, but some may have eaten insects. The largest Pterosaurs known had wingspreads of 40′. Of the late Triassic Era through the late Cretaceous Era.

(NOH-ah-sawr-us)
Its name means “Northwestern Argentina Lizard.” A bipedal predator with sickle-claw feet. This lizard may have been 6′ long. Of the late Cretaceous Era.

This two-footed meat eater is known for its powerful arms, 8′ long. Its fingers end in large sickle shaped claws up to 3′ long. Referred to as the “Scythe Lizard.” Of the late Cretaceous Era.

One of the earliest, most primitive dinosaurs. This speedy, lightly built meat eater had a long jaw and long, slender legs. Known as the “Southern Cross Lizard.” Of the late Triassic Era.

KRYNOSAURS
(KROH-no-sawr-us)
Its name means “Saturn’s Lizard.” This marine reptile had a short neck and a large 12′ long head. It grew up to 40′ long. A fish eater with long flippers that made it a highly agile swimmer. Of the early Cretaceous Era.

CORYTHOSAURUS
(ko-RITH-o-sawr-us)
This bipedal land dweller’s name means “Helmet Lizard,” referring to the shape of its crest adorning its long, narrow head. It was 30′ long and weighed up to 3 tons. This plant eater had a duck-like bill and hundreds of teeth lining its jaws. Of the late Cretaceous Era.

TYLOSAURUS
(TY-lo-sawr-us)
The marine lizard’s name means “Knot Lizard.” It was a meat eater, 20′ to 40′ with a huge jaw and sharp teeth. Its body was long and slim. OF the late Cretaceous Era.
