First some background for those that haven’t already heard: The Polyphonic Spree are a Choral Symphonic Pop band headed by Tim Delaughter, previously of Tripping Daisy. They sing songs about reaching for the sun and enjoying your days and stuff. They wear white robes. There are 2 dozen of them. They play weird instruments including theremin.

I saw the Polyphonic Spree live in concert tonight. It was simply AWESOME. I had seen them once before, at Coachella. That was brilliant because it was in the middle of a sunny day in Palm Springs… the perfect back drop. This time it was in a smallish nightclub place. Not the best backdrop, but they were the headliners. The opening acts were Ok, but I should not dwell on them. Except that Corn Mo, the first act, became part of the chorus. He also sang songs that reminded me of Sifl and Olly.

Ok, cut to the point. The Spree played for almost 2 hours. It was just great. Their music is awesome and you can tell they are all having a great time. So much fun. They played a cover of “Wig in a Box” from Hedwig and the Angry Inch as part of the encore. Their harpist finished the night with a delightful harp serenade. They really infused their energy into the crowd. It was just great!!!!
